Ziziphus jujuba Mill. var. inermis (Bunge) Rehder Rhamnaceae
This species is a deciduous shrub. It is found in south Europe and southwest Asia. The height is 4 to 10 meters. The flowering time is June in Japan. This species came from China. It has been cultivated throughout Japan. The leaves contain ziziphin which is a taste modifier. Putting the leaf in the mouth will suppress any taste of sweetness.

Inconspicuous, yellow flowers form at the axil of the leaf.
