This plant is an evergreen tree, and grows wild in the southern part of China and northern part of Vietnam. The plant height is 12 to 17 meters and the flowering period is May to July. This species is used in herbal medicine, Kampo medicine, and for many years as the spice cinnamon.

Main component: cinnamaldehyde
Leaves of this species are trinerved, which is a characteristic of thhe Lauraceae.
It flowers at the branch point and leaf axil, and its color is yellow-green.
