Coix Seed is the seed of Coix lachryma-jobi Linneá var. mayuen Stapf (Gramineae), from which the seed coat has been removed.
Coix Seed contains coixenolide and other ingredients, and is said to provide nourishment, produce tonic effects and improve rough skin. Coix seed with its shell roasted to give off a flavor is also used as adlay tea.
