Japanese Angelica Root
Japanese Angelica Root is the root of Angelica acutiloba Kitagawa or Angelica acutiloba Kitagawa var. sugiyamae Hikino (Umbelliferae), usually after being passed through hot water.
Japanese Angelica Root contains ligustilide and other ingredients and is said to have tonic and sedative effects.
Yamato Toki, which is produced in Nara Prefecture and other areas, is made with "Hasakake" and "Yumomi" in the cold season. It is characterized by strong sweetness
"Hasakake" is the process of drying the excavated roots outdoors in the cold season.
"Yumomi" is the process of kneading roots in warm water and molding them by removing mud.
The original plant in China is different from that in Japan, and Angelica sinensis is used in China. Angelica sinensis is characterized by strong pungent taste.
